About
Many years ago, my grandmother was housekeeper to the superintendent of schools in a mid-sized city in central New York. Her daughter (my mother) was taught the art of housekeeping from the time she was very young and those skills were consequently passed on to both my sister and I at an equally young age.
My dad was also a great influence in my homemaking. He showed me how to install a water heater, taught me to check the foundation of a house to see if it was properly built and even led a project where we put a new roof on one of our houses.
I recently flipped a cabin on one of the great lakes using every skill I possess from real estate negotiating to hiring a well-driller and steam cleaning kitchen cabinets with steel wool! I sewed the curtains, painted one floor and tiled another. Anyway, you get the picture.
Homemaking encompasses many areas of knowledge including science, psychology, decorative arts and technology along with cooking, paint scraping and floor scrubbing, just to name a few.
Since I have spent most of my life making a home, I consider myself somewhat of a connoisseur and want to share thoughts and ideas with you. I hope you will in turn, share your ideas and help us provide a beautiful environment for our all families and friends, as well as for ourselves.
