Even if you’re French, I don’t hate you

Published by homemaker at 1:58 pm under Current Events Edit This

I saw a comedian on the Comedy Channel going off on the French and how they all hate us.  That made me wonder why anyone would hate me just because I am an American.

If you haven’t hurt small children, animals or any member of my family, I promise I do not hate you.

Why would someone hate me?  I respect all religions, whether or not I believe in them and a person’s right to practice any religion they choose.  I don’t want your money.  I have a nice income of my own.  You don’t have to worry about me taking any of your stuff.

I don’t write hate mail, use bad language in public or slam those who are handicapped or in any way “different.”

I loved Bogart and Bergman when they kept saying “Remember Paris.”  It must have been really something when Fitzgerald and Hemmingway swapped stories at Joe’s American Bar.  O.K., so the Eiffel Tower is not very attractive but it does look interesting and it is a famous landmark, which I also respect.

I love President Nicolas Sarkosky.  He loves Americans, too.  Maybe he has heard about me.  One of my first ancestors to this country was a French doctor.  He saved a woman’s leg from amputation and everyone loved him.  And, that was during an American war against the French!

My mother-in-law’s first love died on French soil trying to save the allied forces from the Nazis and I still don’t hate the French.  I think the country must be beautiful with wineries and country inns.  The language sounds wonderful, no matter what they are are saying.  The food looks pretty good, too.  What’s there to hate?

I take people one at a time and decide whether or not I like them.  Are they respectful?  Do they have good manners?  Forgive me, but most of the people I really like are smart.  I have instant admiration for those who can put a compound sentence together and fill it with interesting facts.  That’s a “wow” for me.  Anyone who is really funny gets my admiration, also.  Make me laugh and I’m yours–if you don’t diminish someone else or using the “F” word a hundred times.  Just be really funny like Mrs. Hughes.  Not only will I not hate you, I’ll probably love you, whether you’re from Guam, Lichtenstein or Sardinia.  It won’t matter if your skin is red, yellow, black or white, if you worship in a temple, a mosque, at the Greek ruins or not at all.  I’ll like you anyway.

That’s a great post. I think you should read my blog. I am a French person, living in the States and my blog is about what people don’t know about France.
