Election Backlash

Published by homemaker at 10:45 am under Current Events Edit This

I cannot believe what I am reading with regard to the election backlash of people acting like fools because their candidate didn’t win.  Hey, my candidate didn’t win either but that doesn’t give me the right to burn a cross on someone’s lawn or scream hate slogans in public.  Have we turned into a society that lacks both good judment and values?

No one has given us the right to spew crap about people who do not share our skin tone or cultural heritage.  I suspect this phenomenon has a lot to do with the lack of respect the media and entertainers have shown to those in high positions.  Calling the president “Mr. Bush” is akin to calling the Pope “Benny” and a reflection of distain for leaders who do not agree with their politics or philosophies.  This example has left a legacy of disrespect unheard of in previous generations.

How sad that a country which had such great beginnings is deteriorating into a place where people allow themselves to behave in a manner that would make all of our ancestors weep with shame.

Unfortunately, racial hatred is alive and well in this country. The KKK actually is loving this. They say that having Obama elected actually will help their membership.

I’m scared for him. I grew up around these people. They’re sick.

The foreign press refers to dignitaries by their position once, then as Mr., Mrs., or Ms. thereafter because it’s assumed you read the first part of the article/listened to the opening segment of the story, and can retain that information. “Mr.” is appropriate in any sense, as it is formal. Technically, we could have referred to W. as “Lame-Duck President Bush” starting Nov.5th, 2004.

I just read that a predominantly African-American church was burned down in Springfield MA, of all places, on the night Obama won the election. The struggle goes on.
